Do you have a word for the year? It’s a concept I came across a few years ago, but have only recently embraced.
My chosen word for 2016 is EXPLORE.
- I aim to get out and see more of the world around me, whether it’s in my own backyard, the beautiful area I live in or further afield.
- I also aim to explore more opportunities, rather than dismissing them before I’ve explored them… this should be interesting!
- I also want toΒ explore moreΒ new things – which includes testing my talents and developing them in the areas I enjoy most, as well as making the effort to meet new people.
To remind myself of these goals, I’ve printed the above picture and stuck it right next to my computer… to provide a constant prompt!
So, what would you like to focus on in 2016? What’s your word for the year? Please let me know in the comments below – and I hope you have a sensational year!
Linking up with Essentially Jess for #IBOTΒ
I certainly have a word – mine’s grow. Am hoping to grow in many facets this year!
Thanks for sharing your word Steph. Looking forward to hearing about how you grow in 2016 π
I’ve been thinking my word for the year is “Recovery”, I feel like after four years of survival with triplets this is the year we can recover from all the craziness of that time and find our stride while also enjoying the time to bask in the extra beauty and fun they have also brought to our family.
Sounds great Caitlin – hope you find your stride in 2016 π
Fantastic word Lyndall! I would like to do a lot more exploring this year too – in every respect. I didn’t choose a word this year. Trying a different approach as last year’s word just didn’t seem to work for me. All the very best for a fantastic 2016! π xo
Thanks Min. Best wishes to you for 2016 as well – I hope it’s a fabulous year for you π x
I feel like my word hasn’t changed for a few years. It needs to be “healthier”. Rather than just think of a good word though, I need to make a plan. I seem to be going backwards on this one!
Yes, I agree Tracy, we do need a plan. My word is the focus of my plan. Onward and upward for all of us in 2016! π
ooh I like explore – good word, you can take that over so many different genres.
I don’t know that I have a word for the year yet but this months word is “declutter”.
I love it Sally! Yes de-cluttering is already on my radar for January too. Why not have a word for the month? Whatever works for you π
I honestly haven’t thought about a word, but now that your post HAS made me think of it I think mine is going to be ‘focus’. I felt as though last year I really lost focus quite regularly and was wasting time on things I shouldn’t have. I want to regain focus on the things that are important.
Sounds fabulous Eva! Best wishes for a wonderful year in 2016 π
Great word, Lyndall. I definitely want to do some more exploring with the kids this year. I don’t choose a word for the year, but admire those who do and who commit wholeheartedly to it. #teamIBOT
Thanks Renee. I’ll do my best to adhere to it! Enjoy exploring with your kids π
That’s an awesome word, and I like the fact that you’ve printed it out so that you can remember it as well.
Thanks Jess – I’ll need to constantly remind myself so that I can stay on track. Best wishes for a fabulous 2016 π
Great word and sounds totally appropriate for you! I only decided on my word for 2015 (change) in my Christmas wrap up blog post – these things take time you know!
Hi Janet – Change sounds good to me! … and all good things take time π
Love your word Lyndall! My chosen word for 2016 is Develop. In the dictionary it says Develop means exist, experience, possess plus become mature, advanced and elaborate. So this year I will begin to experience all those wonderful things I already possess, existing for the now and what I have. Have to laugh at becoming mature and advancing and elaborating on my business is also a goal. Thanks for giving me a focus for this year, Lyndall!
Sounds fabulous Megs! So pleased you’re feeling inspired and focused. Best wishes for a fabulous 2016! x π
I think I said my word was “discover” which is probably pretty similar to explore. I intend doing a lot more travel this year, closer to home – Asia and New Zealand. I also hoping to discover better ways to utilise my time, rather always rushing from one thing to the next. In other words I need to manage my time better and learn to say more often. I hope you fulfill your goals for 2016 Lyndall. π
Thanks for your good wishes Kathy. Onward and upward on our voyage of discovery in 2016! π
