Lovin’ Life update – 8th December – Crazy Christmas month
We’re at the pointy end of the year now…. The time when everything seems to become urgent, people start to get impatient and the shops are so so crowded. Why does the world go crazy in the pre-Christmas season? While things are so busy and frantic, it’s good to find time to focus on lovin’ life.
Busy time in business
In my copywriting business, I’ve been inundated with rush jobs in the past few weeks. It seems there are so many things that just “have to be finished before Christmas”. This seems to happen every year, so at least I know what to expect by now. I love being busy, so I’m revelling in the current spate of challenging jobs with a short deadline, although there just don’t seem to be enough hours in the day!
My latest project
Those of you who follow my Seize the Day Project page on Facebook will have seen the sunrise photos I post most days. I also post the photos on my personal profile. I receive wonderful feedback from friends and followers, with quite a few of them suggesting that I do a calendar. About two weeks ago, I thought, “why not”… so, I got online and organised the photos into a 2017 photo calendar. The hardest part was narrowing it down to just 12 photos! I then posted on Facebook that calendars were now available and I was taking orders for them. To my surprise, the orders started to trickle in, then a few more, with some people even ordering two calendars!
At the cut-off date, just one week later, I thrilled to have orders for over 30 calendars! Not bad for a quick (and last minute) offer. ALthough this is a modest number, it’s an encouraging start. I think I’ll do it again next year, but I’ll start offering them in about August/September, as December seems to be a little bit late to sell calendars – a lot of people already had theirs organised for next year.
When the printed calendars arrived, I was so thrilled with the way they looked. The photos have come up beautifully and I’m so happy with the overall outcome. The reaction from those people I’ve hand-delivered them to has been overwhelmingly positive as well.
This is the first time I’ve made a product based on my photos rather than my writing. The calendar is also the first product I’ve ever sold through Seize the Day Project. You never know where it may lead. I’m so grateful to everyone who has supported me by ordering the calendars and commenting on my daily photos. Thank you so much.
One thing I do know is that my early morning walks help keep me grounded, especially during crazy Christmas month.
